Research Interests
Our lab seeks to understand the behaviour of granular materials and heterogeneous solids predominantly through experiments at multiple length scales. We use image-based experiments and concomitant image analysis such as particle tracking and optical flow to understand and quantify severe plastic deformation.
We also extensively use x ray computed tomography to study packing in granular ensembles, powder assemblages and products of additive manufacturing. The evolution of fabric and structure, during severe plastic deformation in these granular assemblages are examined through a slew of experimental techniques.
We develop constitutive models to predict mechanical behaviour of these complex solids in our lab.
