1. Prof. Sudipta Sengupta - October 9th, 2020

Retd. Professor, Department of Geology, Jadavpur University

Prof. Sudipta Sengupta is a structural geologist, a trained mountaineer and an explorer. She was one of the first Indian women scientists to travel to Antarctica as part of an expedition in 1983 to conduct geological field studies. Upon successful completion of her first Antarctica expedition, she later returned to Antarctica again in 1989 as part of another research expedition. She has also participated in many mountaineering expeditions in India and in many geological expeditions in Europe.

She has been recognized nationally for her research in geology through multiple prestigious awards such as the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, National Mineral award as well as the Indian National Science Academy Fellowship.

2. Dr. Jahnavi Phalkey - 20th November, 2020

Founding Director, Science Gallery Bengaluru

Jahnavi Phalkey is a filmmaker and historian of science and technology. She is the Founding Director of Science Gallery Bengaluru and Sir Asutosh Mukherjee Visiting Professor at the National Institute of Advanced Studies. Jahnavi is the author of Atomic State: Big Science in Twentieth Century India (2013) and has recently co-edited Science of Giants: China and India in the Twentieth Century (2016). She is the director - producer of the documentary film Cyclotron (2020). She is also a visiting senior lecturer at King's College London.
