Congratulations to Trupti Satapathy for this study which characterizes the vertical variability of canopy structure across India’s forests using GEDI data, showing that beta-distribution-fitted metrics effectively capture foliage profiles and their influence on biodiversity, productivity, and biomass, while also revealing strong links to environmental drivers like climate, soil, and topography.demonstrating that SIF yield has to potential to serve as early warning indicator for vegetation stress 1-2 months prior to conventional hydrological, meteorological or physiological indicators.
